How to recognise them
Oriental cockroach
Dark, almost black and slow. Lives in damp places: basements, sewers, drains and ground floors.
German cockroach
Small and light brown with two dark stripes. The most common type in kitchens, bars and restaurants: it loves the warmth of appliances.
American cockroach
Large and reddish, it can fly. Common in ports, sewers, plant rooms and cellars.
Warning signs not to ignore
- Dark insects that run away when you switch on the light at night
- Small black droppings like grains of pepper or coffee
- Oothecae: brown egg cases in corners and behind furniture
- Sweetish, unpleasant smell in the kitchen or pantry
- Moulted skins near drains and skirting boards
Why they are a problem
- They carry bacteria onto food, dishes and surfaces
- They can trigger allergies and worsen asthma, especially in children
- In a restaurant, a single cockroach seen by a customer or the local health authority (ASL) does enormous damage

FAQ
Do I need to leave home during the treatment?
With gel treatments you usually don't: the product is applied in small drops in hidden spots. If a different treatment is needed, we will tell you beforehand what to do.
Why do I see more of them after the treatment?
In the first few days cockroaches come out of their hiding places because they are disturbed or already affected by the product. This is normal and does not last long.
In an apartment building, is it enough to treat one flat?
Often not: cockroaches move through drains and service shafts. It is more effective to treat the common areas and the building's sewer pipes.
